Overview

Opened in 1976, the landmark monument honours Thiruvalluvar with a massive stone chariot (~40 metres tall) modeled after temple chariots in TamilNadu.

A life sized statue of Thiruvalluvar is present inside the chariot.

All 1330 couplets of Thiruvalluvar’s most famous work, Thirukkural are inscribed in slabs around the monument corridors.

The monument complex includes one of the Asia’s largest auditoriums, frequently used for cultural events.

Things to Know before Visiting

It is highly recommended to visit in the evening to also experience the daily evening light and musical fountain shows.
