Boating in Chetpet Lake at Chetpet Eco Park
Chetpet Eco Park

Overview

Opened in 2016, the park is built around Chetpet lake, the only natural lake in the center of Chennai.

The park is 16 acres big, with the lake covering 9 acres.

The lake doesn’t have natural freshwater — it’s supplied with 20,000 litres of treated water daily from a tertiary sewage plant.

In addition to a walkway, the park also has a small aquarium, boating options and a small play area for children.

Things to Know before Visiting

In addition to entry tickets, additional tickets are required for other facilities inside such as boating and the aquarium.

People are generally allowed to picnic and eat inside. However, you may not be able to carry your own food inside and may need to purchase items from facilities present inside the park.
